Dr Poole is a Chartered Clinical Psychologist registered with the British Psychological Society and Health and Care Professions Council. She has over 25 years experience working in mental and physical health settings in both the NHS and in private practice. She now works fully in private practice.

Dr Poole is experienced working with people of working age (16+ years). She provides assessment and therapeutic intervention for a range of common psychological issues including depression, anxiety, stress, phobias, trauma, relationship issues, psychosexual difficulties including sexual pain disorders and sexual health and physical health issues such as adjustment to acute, chronic and life limiting illness, medication adherence and pain management.

Dr Poole works integratively drawing on a range of therapeutic approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), acceptance based interventions and person centred approaches.

Dr Poole’s role as Clinical Director at Purple House includes direct clinical work as well as many aspects of management; clinical governance, human resources and service development.

Experience & Expertise

Dr Rachel Kemp is joint Director of the Purple House Clinic, Rugby. Dr Kemp is a Clinical Psychologist, Chartered member of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). She has 15 years of experience working in the NHS, primarily with adults in an acute physical health setting. Prior to training as a Clinical Psychologist Dr Kemp trained as a Forensic Psychologist and worked in the Prison Service for seven years. 

Dr Kemp has expertise in working with adults experiencing difficulties including depression, anxiety, post traumatic stress, adjustment difficulties, physical health difficulties (e.g. long term conditions / medical trauma / psychosexual difficulties). She has also had extensive experience of working with adults who have experienced childhood attachment difficulties / traumatic childhood experiences, which continue to have an impact on life in adulthood. 

Dr Kemp draws upon a number of different models in her work including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) and psychodynamic ideas to offer an integrative and individually meaningful approach to clients.

Dr Kemp is experienced in providing clinical supervision and has completed accredited supervisor training. She also has experience of research, training and doctoral level teaching.

Dr Livea Coelho

Dr Coelho is a Practitioner Clinical Psychologist registered with the HCPC and holding Chartered status with the British Psychological Society. She has more than 15 years of experience providing patient-centred treatment and support for people experiencing a wide range of life problems and emotional difficulties, including private practice and public health sector mental health.

She has gained clinical experience within the National Health System and private healthcare services, providing short and long term weekly psychological treatment to a wide variety of client groups.  She also works as a lead psychologist in the NHS, providing psychological therapy for service users with complex mental health needs. She uses a friendly, warm and down-to-earth approach while also being open and direct in communication. She has experience working with a wide range of issues, typically including personality disorders, substance misuse, life stress and crisis, anxiety, depression, and relationship problems.

Dr Coelho was trained in and is experienced in a range of best practice, evidence-based treatment approaches tailored to best meet a person’s unique needs and personal style with compassion, care and understanding. They include Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), and Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, holding a particular interest in mindfulness. She sees the therapeutic process as a collaboration, a unique piece of work jointly created between the therapist and the client. No matter how the problem or issue initially presents itself, therapy can be an opportunity to connect us to important life questions about what is meaningful to us and how we want to live.

In addition to English, she can also work with clients in Portuguese.

Cassandra De Souza

Cassandra is a Senior Associate Psychologist at Purple House Rugby. She is an Educational Psychologist and a Practitioner Psychologist registered with the Health and Care Professions Council. Cassandra is experienced in working with children and adolescents.

 

Cassandra works therapeutically with children and adolescents experiencing difficulties including generalised anxiety, social anxiety, low mood, tics, and behavioural difficulties.  She is experienced in supporting neurodivergent young people and uses creative ways to adapt her approach to ensure that clients can fully engage.  Cassandra offers a kind and creative approach aiming not only to help clients overcome challenges but to pursue fulfilling and purposeful lives.  She offers psychological consultations for parents/carers or professionals to support children and young people. These consultations cover a range of issues including

  • Education and learning related issues

  • Managing challenging behaviour

Cassandra has worked in Local Authorities and in private practice since 2004 including a specialist role in behaviour and social and emotional needs.  Cassandra has experience in working with large organisations, groups and individuals.  She has pursued a range of therapeutic training through continuous professional development to enhance the range of support offer clients.

Dr Suzanne Richer

Dr Richer is a chartered Educational and Child Psychologist, registered with the Health and Care Professions Council. Dr Richer has worked within a local authority psychology service with children, young people, families, schools, and other professionals for 11 years and has experience of working with a range of psychological needs. She can provide assessment and intervention services, including therapeutic work, directly with young people aged 0-25 and their families.

Dr Richer is passionate about using psychology to improve the wellbeing of children who are encountering difficulties, including autism spectrum conditions, attention difficulties, cognitive and learning difficulties, anxiety and low mood, social, emotional and mental health issues and relational and family challenges. She has worked with children who are adopted and those in care and has a good understanding of the unique challenges and needs encountered by these families.

Dr Richer is an experienced Theraplay practitioner and registered with the Theraplay Institute Practicum. She can deliver weekly support to families to strengthen the relationships and understanding within the family, building on moments of engagement and connection. Dr Richer has helped many parents and carers to better understand and meet the unique needs of their child. She has particular interests in infant development, attachment, emotional regulation and wellbeing, and has completed doctoral research around parenting infants and toddlers.

Dr Richer can provide consultation, assessment and advice to families and schools and can advise on appropriate adaptations, interventions and provisions that will benefit a child or adolescent, ensuring they can fulfil their potential and make progress. She uses positive psychology to identify strengths and solutions and move each individual forward. She has a thorough knowledge of the education system, and the statutory Education, Health and Care (EHC) assessment process.

Dr Hayley Wilch

Dr Wilch is an Associate Educational Psychologist at Purple House Rugby, registered with the Health and Care Profession Council (HCPC).  Dr Wilch has over 20 years’ experience in working with children aged 0 – 19 years.  She now works fully in a private capacity.  

Dr Wilch provides individual assessment and bespoke interventions, approaches and pathways forward for a range of learning barriers including dyslexia, dyscalculia, dysgraphia, anxiety, memory, executive functioning, visual spatial skills, social interaction and communication and child behavioural issues.  Dr Wilch also has expertise and experience in contributing towards assessments where there is a concern relating to dyspraxia, ADHD and ASD.  She has worked with children of all ages with complex and challenging presentations. 

Prior to working in a private capacity, Dr Wilch worked for Leicester City Council Educational Psychology Service for 3 years before transferring to West Northants County Council, where she worked as a specialist in ASD, for 19 years.

    Dr Joanne Lomas

    Dr Lomas is an Associate Psychologist at Purple House Rugby. She is a Registered Practitioner Psychologist.  Dr Lomas is experienced in working with adults with a range of presenting difficulties including depression, anxiety, self- harm, violence, phobias, obsessive/compulsive problems and trauma.   She specialises in working with adults with complex emotional/interpersonal problems, often linked to childhood, who present a risk to themselves or others.  She is skilled in working with complex presentations, including personality disorder, and in assessing, formulating and managing risk.   She has had extensive experience of working with males and females in forensic settings across different levels of security, including inpatient and community settings.    Some of this work has been within specialist services for people with learning disability and/or autism.    

    Dr Lomas has routinely carried out and supervised complex psychological assessments and formulations of risk within prison, inpatient and outpatient community settings, utilising measures of violence and sexual violence such as the HCR-20 and SVR-20 as well as standardised measures of mood, mental state and personality (including the Psychopathy Checklist – PCL-R).  Dr Lomas is also experienced in completing court reports and has attended Court as an expert witness on several occasions.   She is trained in assessing autism using the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS-II) and Autism Diagnostic Interview (ADI-II) and regularly carries out assessments of capacity.

    Dr Lomas has had training and experience in several therapeutic approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT) Solution Focussed Brief Therapy (SFBT), Schema Therapy, Behavioural Family Therapy (BFT) and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT). She delivers training to external agencies and provides clinical supervision and consultation.  

    Dr Lomas has worked in the NHS for over 20 years and has spent the last two years working as a Consultant Clinical Psychologist.   This role includes direct clinical work as well as many aspects of management, clinical governance, human resources and service development.
