Expertise and Experience
Dr Day is an Associate Psychologist at Purple House Rugby. She is a Clinical Psychologist, a Chartered member of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and a registered Practitioner Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
Dr Day has more than 30 years post qualification experience prior to working in private practice. She has workedas a Consultant Clinical Psychologist in the NHS and in the charity sector, occupying a number of roles including Head of Specialty and National Clinical Lead.
Dr Day is experienced in working with adults, offering evidence based and best practice approaches. She is an accredited CBT therapist and provides psychological assessment and intervention for a range of common mental
health and psychological issues. These include low mood, depression, anxiety, panic, social anxiety, stress, obsessive compulsive difficulties, low self-esteem, low confidence, life adjustments/changes, grief and loss. Dr Day has extensive experience of working with problematic alcohol and drug use, dependence and co existing psychological and mental health difficulties. She also has an interest in working with motivation, ambivalence, self-efficacy, and linked challenges in health behaviour change.
Dr Day works in partnership to gain a shared understanding of issues and to develop a tailored response that recognises an individualโs priorities, values, and preferences. She works collaboratively to form and maintain a therapeutic connection that feels safe, empowering, and effective, with an approach that is strengths based, responsive to changing needs and builds resilience.
In addition to offering psychological therapy, Dr Day has experience of providing support to staff and services including clinical supervision, teaching, consultation, leadership, and service development.
