Expertise and Experience

Dr Sayers is an Associate Clinical Psychologist working with Purple House. She is a registered as a Practitioner Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council, a Chartered Psychologist with the British Psychological Society and an accredited Counsellor and Psychotherapist with the National Counselling Society. She is experienced in working with clients of all ages including adults, children and adolescents, and provides assessment, consultation and therapeutic interventions for a range of common psychological issues. These include depression, anxiety, phobias, obsessive/compulsive difficulties and trauma. She specialises in working with adults who have emotional and interpersonal difficulties that may be linked to attachment and childhood and is experienced in working with people struggling with personality and eating difficulties, autistic spectrum conditions (ASD), challenges associated with gender identity, and with families coping with the effects of a life-limiting physical health condition.

In addition to working in private practice, Dr Sayers also works for the Priory Group as Principal Psychologist and DBT Lead for a specialist programme providing support to women diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD). Further to BPD, these women also struggle with other complex difficulties related to mood (Bipolar, Depression and Anxiety), eating (Anorexia, Bulimia and Binge Eating), Autistic Spectrum conditions and Psychosis. She also delivers training on the University of Leicester’s Doctoral programme for Clinical Psychologists in Training. She has been working with children, families and adults in independent, NHS and third-sector mental health services since 2004 and has an extensive background in clinical research having worked as Research and Development Lead within the NHS.
