Expertise and Experience

Kerry is a Psychological Therapist.   Originally trained as a Registered Mental Health Nurse, Kerry is registered with the Royal College of Nursing. Kerry specialised in child and adolescent mental health within the NHS where she worked for 7 years and went on to undertake further training in psychological therapies including EMDR, Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy and Interpersonal Psychotherapy.   Kerry provides assessment and therapeutic intervention for a range of psychological issues and mental health problems including depression, anxiety, phobias, obsessive/compulsive problems, trauma, eating disorders and attachment disorders.  She specialises in Child and Adolescent Mental Health, Attachment, Trauma (PTSD) and working with young adults with depression linked to interpersonal difficulties.

 Kerry has experience in helping children, adolescents and their families overcome a wide range of difficulties. She incorporates a range of therapeutic approaches into her practice including Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy Skills.

Kerry has assessed, planned and delivered care for children and adolescent with severe mental illnesses such as Psychotic Disorders and Anorexia Nervosa, requiring inpatient treatment.  She has also worked within community CAMHS settings with Children and Adolescents experiencing common emotional and psychological difficulties before working within a specialist CAMHS team for Looked After Children and young people leaving care.  Here, Kerry developed her expertise in working with adolescents with complex psychological difficulties and completed specialist training in specific psychological therapies.  Kerry has special interests in Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), self-harm, attachment and trauma.
