Expertise and Experience

Alex McCall is a registered community psychiatric nurse (CPN) specialising in trauma and its impact on personal relationships and families. He also works with other common mental health problems including anxiety and depression. Alex finds Mindfulness based interventions including ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) and CFT (Compassion Focused Therapy) particularly helpful in these areas. Alex is an EMDR Europe accredited practitioner and has completed two years of a three year diploma in Mindfulness based cognitive therapies.

Alex qualified in mental health nursing in January 2009 after many years working in management and running a successful business.  Initially training in an acute psychiatric setting, he then worked for five years as a community psychiatric nurse for the charity Combat Stress, visiting veterans in their homes.  Alex currently works at a military establishment during normal working hours with military personnel who have a wide range of mental health problems including post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). He sees private clients for Purple House in the evening and at weekends by arrangement. Alex mainly sees private clients in Leicester city and in Rutland.
